  1. Making Tax Digital for VAT

    VAT-registered businesses must keep digital records and submit VAT returns using MTD-compatible software, with digital links between systems rather than manual copying.

  2. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

    MTD for Income Tax is phasing in from April 2026 for sole traders and landlords above HMRC income thresholds, which matters for owner-managed businesses and groups with property income.

  3. Payroll and RTI

    UK employers report payroll to HMRC under PAYE Real Time Information every time they pay staff, and must meet pensions auto-enrolment duties. ERP and payroll systems need to work together.

  4. UK accounting standards

    Reporting should reflect UK accounting practice, including FRS 102 for many UK companies, a UK chart of accounts and correct VAT treatment.

  5. Banking and payments

    UK ERP set-ups commonly need bank feeds, BACS payment runs and reconciliation with UK banks.

What is the difference between ERP and accounting software?

Accounting software such as Xero or Sage manages your books: invoices, bills, VAT and reporting. ERP covers the wider business, including sales, purchasing, inventory, production and people, with finance built in. Many growing businesses move to ERP when spreadsheets and separate tools can no longer keep up.

Does your ERP software support Making Tax Digital?

We design ERP solutions to support Making Tax Digital for VAT: digital record keeping, digital links between systems and submission through HMRC-recognised MTD software, either built in or via integration with your accounting platform.

How long does an ERP implementation take?

ERP implementations typically take several months, because they touch finance, operations and people. A focused rollout for a single-site SME is quicker than a multi-entity or multi-site programme. We plan in stages so value is delivered before the full rollout completes.

Can you migrate us from Sage or spreadsheets to an ERP?

Yes. We map your existing data, cleanse it, migrate opening balances, customers, suppliers and stock, and reconcile the results with you before switching over.

How much does ERP cost for a UK business?

ERP costs depend on the modules, users, customisation, data migration and integrations involved. Rather than quoting a generic figure, we assess your requirements and provide a scoped estimate in pounds, with VAT shown separately.

Do I need an ERP or just a better CRM?

If your main challenge is managing leads, customers and sales, a CRM may be enough. If problems span stock, purchasing, finance and operations, with data re-keyed between systems, an ERP is usually the better long-term answer. Many businesses run both, integrated.
